Port Blair, Feb 25: CPR Environmental Education Centre (CPREEC), Chennai organized a Certificate Course on Value Addition and Marketing of NTFPs (plant origin): Coconut Shell Handicrafts under the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GoI on 22nd February 2022 at Tamilarsangam Hall.
Mr. A. Gopal, Project Officer, CPREEC, Port Blair welcomed the gathering and highlighted that Coconut Handicrafts have a direct connection to Andaman Tourism.
Mr. BishnuPradabhYadav, Retd. Divisional Officer, Department of Environment and Forest was the chief guest and Mr. Kalidas, Secretary, Tamilarsangam was the guest of honour on the occasion.
He urged the trainees to utilize the time and resources and informed them that Coconut Shell Handicrafts are one of the main eco-friendly products available in the market.
The course aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding and impart basic skills to the participants on the skill of Coconut shell processing techniques.
The coconut artifacts are made as per the growing demands worldwide. Coconut shell products include Coconut Shell Jewellery, Coconut Shell Lamp Shades, Coconuts Shell Bags, Coconut Shell Pen Stand and Coconut Shell Paintings, etc.
