Port Blair, Feb 22: The villagers of Katchal Islands, who are literally sore over the almost non-existent mobile and internet connectivity in the region, may now witness 3G BSNL network connectivity very soon.
For a long time people of Katchal Island have been complaining about pathetic mobile and internet connectivity in the Island.
Now it has been informed by Islanders that nearly two weeks back, equipments for 3G mobile network connectivity, have reached Katchal Island.
The residents of Katchal Island have been suffering from bad 2G network connectivity which is connected through satellite.
There were many occasions in the past when people living in the Island were totally cut-off from the rest of the world due to bad networks. Now it is expected that the 3G BSNL connectivity will surely bring some relief to the people.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted the Chief General Manager of BSNL, he said that BSNL is planning to improve network connectivity in the Island.
“BSNL also has plans to start FTTH connectivity along with 3G network connectivity. As of now the network is being provided with the help of satellites, which has to be converted into radio links first,” he said.
