Port Blair, Feb 02: CPI (M) Andaman and Nicobar State Organising Committee expressed serious concern over the frequent power cuts resorted to by the Electricity Department in Port Blair and rural South Andaman areas during the last few weeks, adversely affecting the studies of students. Online classes are being conducted and the frequent and undeclared power disruption leads to paralyzing the studies of the students especially those who are studying in higher classes and preparing for the Board Examinations scheduled in March, 2022. The CPI (M) has observed that the situation has worsened during the last one week with innumerable times of power breakdown in a day which causes inconvenience for the general public and students. No reason has been cited by the Administration for such undeclared and recurrent power cuts. CPI (M) Andaman and Nicobar State Organising Committee calls upon the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to take immediate steps to end the frequent and undeclared power cuts at Port Blair and rural South Andaman areas which will be of immense relief to the general public and students. CPI (M) also demands that advance announcement through print and electronic media should be made by the Electricity Department about the power cuts proposed to be carried out by them.
