Port Blair, Dec 06: The Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi (PBGKR) has extended assistance to renowned Paper Craft and Art artistes from Delhi. Mr Suresh Rai and Mr Ramesh Rai have been coming to these islands since 2012 and have taught students of KV I & II, Ummat Public School, Jawahar Boys School, Girls Sr Sec School and many other during their visits to the islands.
Expecting the same business market this year they were used to during the pre COVID era, the artistes landed here on Nov 5 and after a month long struggle nothing could be achieved and were left with empty pockets. Both struggling to survive needed to go back to their family at the earliest but with peak air fares had left no hope for them.
Mr Ramesh got in touch with Mr Mandeep Grewal, President, PBGKR and Mr Gurmeet Singh, Secretary, PBGKR and narrated their plight. The team immediately booked the flight tickets for the two and wished them the very best of future ahead. “We were actually moved when he said his wife is due in 10 days and no one is there to take care of her. We feel blessed to have been able to help the genuine artistes and hope they will return when every school starts with the kids coming in for the regular classes,” said Mr Grewal.
