Port Blair, Nov 16: In the wee hours of 26 May 2021 a massive fire was reported from the Baratang region, which gutted a shop ‘Pooja Enterprises’ completely. The gutted shop was owned by former Zilla Parishad member of Baratang & Ex Up-Adhyaksh of N & M Andaman ZP, Mr. R Alager Swamy.
After the fire accident, the owner of the shop, political leaders across party lines and many other general public smelt something fishy. The public of the region gathered several evidences against one particular person, a former employee of the shop, who was reportedly seen moving out of his house at late night hours on 25 May 2021, under suspicious circumstances.
Mr. Alager Swamy in the past had met the Director General of Police and sought an inquiry into the case which led to the fire and subsequently the case was handed over to PS Central Crime Station, Port Blair.
It is learnt that after detailed inquiry by the police team of CCS, the accused was arrested and he was sent to judicial custody. CCS team claims to have sufficient evidences against the accused in this case.
Meanwhile, the many villagers of Baratang region and the owner of the shop Mr. R Alager Swami expressed gratitude towards the Director General of Police and the entire team of PS CCS, because of whom this blind case was cracked and the accused was arrested.
Villagers told Andaman Sheekha Daily that only after intervention of the Director General of Police the case was transferred to PS CCS and now finally the truth behind the case became clear.
