Port Blair, Nov 03: Mr. PK Haldar, Ex-Member of Andaman & Nicobar Pradesh Council, Little Andaman has demanded boat services for 08 patients who are reportedly stranded at Mayabunder due to unavailability of boats since last two days.
In his letter addressed to Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister for Health, and Mr. Jitendra Narain, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration Mr. Haldar mentioned that a total of 8 patients were referred from Dr. R.P. District Hospital, Mayabunder to GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair on 1st November 2021.
The said patients were supposed to travel Port Blair by boat in MV Coral Queen. However, the said ship could not sail due to technical snags, he pointed out in his letter.
“Out of the 8 patients, 2 are so serious that they could not even be airlifted, so the Boat is urgently required to shift them to Port Blair. The other 6 patients may be taken to Port Blair by Helicopter”, he added.
Mr. Halder alleged that such incidents are common in N & M Andaman for which innocent public of these remote islands are being victimized.
He further pointed out that at presently only two general doctors are available at District Hospital Mayabunder. Whereas according to the provision around 7 General Doctors plus 4 specialists should be posted at District Hospital Mayabunder. Mr. Haldar urged necessary arrangements should be made for the patients, who are stranded at Mayabunder at the earliest.
