Port Blair, Oct 14: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP, Former State President BJP, A&N Islands & Member Home Ministry Advisory Committee has urged the administration to conduct a joint survey to assess the extent of damage caused by flood in Diglipur after in his 03 days tour to North and Middle Andaman from 09.10.2021 to 12.10.2021 visited the flood-affected areas of the Diglipur which includes Subhash Gram, R K Gram, Nabagram, Sitanagar, D B Gram and Madhupur and take stock of the situation.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr Jolly said in the aftermath of the severe flood which caused significant loss to the property, damaging houses, ration articles, agriculture produces, livestock, electronic appliances, fishery farm and agricultural crops causing huge financial loss. Islanders are already reeling under the pandemic, at such a time, the flood has caused heavy damage to the properties due to which affected people are looking towards the administration for appropriate relief.
Further he mentioned that the ground assessment in the field during his visit and discussion with the affected people we have concluded that the impact of the flood was severe and the damage is still required to be ascertained with the help of a joint assessment departmental team comprising of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Revenue. He welcomed the administration’s steps for conduct survey which is going on in view of granting compensation/relief on the basis of the ground report which is undoubtedly a welcome step.
Concluding in his letter he request to depute a separate joint survey team of the above concerned departments irrespective of the ongoing assessment survey to assess the damage caused by flood and sanction the appropriate relief/compensation for those affected by the flood as soon as possible.
