

Port Blair, Sept 30: NCC cadets, Associate NCC Care Takers, Permanent Instructor Staff and other Unit staff of both Navy and Army NCC Units of A&N Islands bid adieu to Capt (IN) V K Trivedi, Commanding Officer No.1 (AN) NU NCC as he handed over command to Lt Cdr Ankit Pant on his superannuation from Indian Navy. He completed 34 years and 03 months of Commissioned Service. He participated in various operations such as Ops Pawan, Tasha, Vijay and Parakram. He is recipient of 03 Commander in Chief Commendations, 01 Commander in Chief Appreciation and Unit commendations for 2 units commanded by him during his career in Indian Navy.
Naval NCC Unit of these Islands under his command received DG NCC commendation/appreciation for NCC activities carried out during first wave of COVID 19. DDG NCC appreciation/commendation cards were awarded to SLt (ANO) Dr Satyam Setia and 9 cadets of Naval unit NCC during his tenure as Commanding Officer. He had pushed through proposal of firing simulator and rowing simulator for supplementing the training of cadets in these Islands and they are likely to be received shortly. Both NCC Units conducted number of social service and community development activities frequently, even during COVID 19 pandemic. The cases of increasing messing rates for the cadets during camp and training for these Islands are being deliberated at highest level in DG NCC.
Group Commander Madras ‘A’ Group during Annual Inspection of the AN Units assessed both the units to be of high standard despite constraints at remote Islands and COVID 19 pandemic. He checked the turn out and drills of cadet’s Guard. NCC Cadets of both the units had unique opportunity to witness and participate in traditional ‘Man and Cheer ship’ and ‘Ceremonial Pulling Out’ of their Commanding Officer.
