Port Blair, Sept 24: As a result of continuous heavy down pour in North Andaman since evening of 22 Sep 21, low lying area of RK Gram in Diglipur witnessed flash floods on 23 Sep 21. On request of local administration, the Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters at Diglipur in a swift operation in conjunction with Department of Revenue and Forest mobilized its resources for rescue and relief of people in inundated areas. One Gemini each of Indian Coast Guard and Revenue department was launched with ICG divers and rescue team embarked. The operation which commenced at 1700 hours continued till 1930 hours on 23 Sep 21 and a total of 19 stranded people including aged people, ladies and kids were rescued. One Coast Guard ambulance with medical team was kept stand-by on-scene to mitigate any medical emergency.
