Port Blair, Sept 15: The Andaman unit of National Students’ Unit of India has demanded to establish a Central University in Andaman and Nicobar Islands instead of proposed Deemed University.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the state President NSUI, A & N Islands, Mr. M.A Sajid has mentioned that establishing a Central University will help in intellectual development of students and will help improving the quality of education in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
“For the all-round development of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, setting up of a Central University is very essential. The memorandum submitted today to Lt. Governor has been arrived upon after comprehensive deliberations and discussions with students,” Mr. M A Sajid mentioned in his letter.
He said that NSUI opposes the idea of establishing a Deemed University in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
