Port Blair, Aug 28: The land-sliding area of Andaman Trunk Road, which was reported from a spot inside Jarawa Reserve Forest of South Andaman, nearly 400 mtrs away from Middle Strait Jarawa Protection Post, remained closed for movement of buses and cargo trucks for the second day today.
Sources said that the staffs involved in repair works are hoping to repair the road by tomorrow evening, depending upon weather conditions.
Meanwhile, for the second day today Andaman and Nicobar Administration has made special arrangements for Bus Passengers by providing different buses on either side of the land-sliding area, so that passengers from one bus can walk 400 mtrs through the damaged area and get on to other bus and continue onwards journey.
But dozens of Cargo Trucks and fuel trucks are still stranded on both the sides of the damaged road, which might trigger shortage of commodities and fuel in North and Middle Andaman, if the road is not repaired soon.
Sources have confirmed that all efforts are being made by concerned authorities and Administration to make the area fit for movement of heavy vehicles as soon as possible.
