Port Blair, Aug 11: The Victory flame, during its transit through the Andaman and Nicobar Islands chain, was routed via Narcondam, and the Easternmost Island of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The flame was also blazed past Barren Island, India’s only active volcano. In what appeared to be divine intervention of sorts, the Volcano spewed large masses of gas/lava, symbolically showering its blessings to the flame, as it sailed past the Flat Rock, an islet during low waters. The flame will reach Hut Bay where it will be kept for public viewing and other events under aegis of Indian Coast Guard. On completion of a day’s public viewing at Hut Bay the flame will return to Port Blair for adding glory to the Independence Day parade at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium. On completion of the Independence Day celebrations at Port Blair, the flame will begin its next phase of transit to the Southern Group of islands on the evening of 15 Aug 21.
