Port Blair, Aug 02: Finally the Administration has decided to operated ATR express buses between South Andaman and N&M Andaman District, following continuous demands placed by public of North and Middle Andaman.
In an order issued by Director of Transport, he mentioned that it is observed by the Administration that there are a lot of people who need to move between Port Blair and North & Middle Andaman as either they are stranded or require to move in connection with education, work or other emergency needs.
Therefore, it has been decided by the competent authority to operate the ATR Express services in a restricted manner in respect of buses plying on NH 4 between South Andaman District and North & Middle Andaman District.
According to release STS bus will depart from Port Blair to Diglipur, Mayabunder, Billiground and Rangat at 07:00 AM. Private buses Anand and Shiv Shambhu will depart at 06:30 AM and 06:20 AM respectively from Port Blair. The detailed schedule has already been widely shared in social media.
The release also states that the buses shall ply with a maximum 90% of the registered seating capacity and the operation shall adhere to the SOP issued by Transport Department vide Office Order No. 1457 dated 6th July 2021. All commuters are appealed to follow the protocols of COVID-19 while travelling.
