Port Blair, July 18: Mr. Sunil Chander Das who runs a grocery shop at R K Gram near Civil Supply Godown, came to police station at around 6:20 AM on 18/07/2021, stating that he had kept some gold ornaments and cash in the drawer of his shop but when he came to the shop in the morning, he saw that the lock of the shop is broken and the gold jewellery and cash missing from his cash drawer. SHO of Diglipur immediately called all the staff available in police station and asked about any suspicious persons in their beat, who might have committed this burglary. Based on the inputs from the beat staff, teams were dispatched to different places to check on such persons. One such team, headed by SI Manoj Lal checked Prabir Kumar Barman and asked about his whereabouts last night. When he was not able to give any satisfactory answers, the team got suspicious. On sustained interrogation, he admitted to have committed the burglary and led the police team to recovery of jewellery, which met the description given by the complainant. The found jewellery was got identified by the complainant, which included 02 Nos. bangles, 02 Nos. ear rings, 02 Nos. Chain and 01 No. Finger ring all weighing around 40 grams. The accused has been arrested.
