Port Blair, Jul 07: Mr. Abdul Siddique Ex. Pramukh of Mayabunder has demanded to provide power supply at Anganwadi centre, Pokadera.
In a letter addressed to the Special Officer, Gram Panchayat Pokadera, the Ex- Pramukh said that within a distance of around 50 meters from Gram Panchayat, Pokadera building an Anganwadi center has been functional since past many years but the center is running without power supply.
He further pointed out that the parents of the small kids and villagers of Pokadera Panchayat have approached him regarding the above issue. The parents have told him that many times they had raised this issue in the Gram Sabha before and had also approached the then elected Pradhan, Mr. Jaiseelan.
The Anganwadi workers also mentioned that children used to sweat and could not sit and have their meals inside the room due to the unbearable heat. The Anganwadi workers had to make children sit in the verandah for their meals”’ the Ex- Pramukh added.
He mentioned that sooner or later the kids will be back in the Anganwadi centre for their normal daily routine classes hence he urged to make necessary arrangements for providing power supply at Anganwadi centre, Pokadera at the earliest.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Jalardan, Special Officer of Gram Panchayat and Thesilder, Mayabunder said that “We came to know about this issue recently, within one or two days the power supply will be provided,” he assured.
