Port Blair, Jun 22: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman said that issuing recent lockdown orders and restricting unnecessary movement of people in North and Middle Andaman was necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19 in NMA District.
In a telephonic conversation with media the DC said that since lockdown has started in the North and Middle Andaman District, people of the District were facing a lot of difficulties. Preventing Islanders and the District from transmission of Coronavirus was important. So far, situation is under control and thus some relaxation has been given to islanders, she added.
“Also I would request that though some relaxations have been provided by Administration, that doesn’t mean that one should violate the rules, people should come out of their house only if it is necessary, they should maintain social distancing at public places and should follow Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and always put their mask on”, the DC added.
The DC further pointed out that the efforts which have been made by Administration till now to contain the spread of COVID-19, that should not be wasted. Whatever relaxations have been provided by Administration, should not be misused.
