Two passengers tested positive during RAT test at Ferrargunj Today: Secretary IP&T

Port Blair, Jun 16: The Secretary IP&T Mr. SK Singh today informed that two flights with 287 passengers arrived this morning at Port Blair Airport and all passengers have undergone RT-PCR test, the results for today’s RT-PCR are awaited.
While addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Secretary further informed that 105 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj in which 02 travelers were tested COVID-19 positive during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Mr. SK Singh further pointed out that yesterday (Tuesday), among 281 passengers, who landed at Port Blair Airport, none were found COVID-19 positive during RT-PCR test.
About the vaccination drive, the Secretary informed that today altogether 464 eligible beneficiaries got vaccinated. In which 46 beneficiaries were of the age group above 45 year old and 418 were beneficiaries of the age group above 18-44 year old who got their first dose of vaccine.
He further pointed out that altogether Andaman and Nicobar Islands have approximately 60000 beneficiaries under NFSA, among which 12533 beneficiaries are AAY cardholders and 46209 beneficiaries are PHH cardholders.
He said that at Nicobar District altogether 9187 beneficiaries are AAY and 8794 beneficiaries of PHH cardholders. Similarly at South Andaman District it has 3119 beneficiaries of AAY and 13735 beneficiaries of PHH cardholders. Whereas at North and Middle Andaman District 3227 beneficiaries are AAY and 24373 beneficiaries are PHH cardholders, he added.
Later the Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal, informed to media persons that no new COVID patients were admitted today in G.B. Pant Hospital and 02 patients got discharged. With this, the number of corona positive patients in the Hospital is 18. Out of the 18 patients, 14 are on Oxygen support.
The Deputy Director GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Amitabha De said that today there was 02 new admission and 02 discharge reported at COVID Care Centers and the number of patients in the COVID Care Centers is 11 and at Wimberlygunj COVID Care Center 06 are admitted till date, he added.
