Port Blair, June 13: Mr. P. K. Haldar Ex-Member Pradesh Council of A & N Island, has urged to introduce Science stream in the subjects i.e. Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Forestry, Fisheries and Zoology in Mahatma Gandhi College at Mayabunder.
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Haldar pointed out that there is no science stream in Mahatma Gandhi College, Mayabunder. The Students of these vast areas deprived off science faculties, whereas a number of them are very much interested in studying science, and hence the public are pressing hard.
“This is an old demand of the public of the entire Middle & North Andaman, because, this is the era of science”, he added.
He further mentioned that there must be science steam with the subjects of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physic, Zoology, Forestry, Fisheries and Zoology in graduation level. The students of the entire Middle & North Andaman will get the opportunities to study science easily, he pointed out.
“The JNRM College of Port Blair city is over loaded, the seats are limited and hence the completion is high. The majority students particularly the rural boys and girls are being deprived off in getting admission in the science sections there. There is a great demand of Hostel Accommodation Port Blair city. This is because; the Hostel accommodation is very limited there”, Mr. Haldar added.
A number of college students have been staying with rental accommodations in the Port Blair city, and it is very expensive too, he pointed out.
Mr. Haldar further pointed out that the distance in between one end of Middle Andaman, i.e. Kadamtala to the other end of North Andaman, i.e. Diglipur, is more than 200 KM. It is a vast area. Mahatma Gandhi College of Mayabunder is the only College in the entire Middle & North Andaman area. It is situated in the centrally located place, Mr. Haldar added.
