Port Blair, June 08: The recent weather forecast indicates SW Monsoon wind flow is likely to strengthen over the Bay of Bengal from 08 Jun 21. SW Monsoon is likely to be strong to vigorous over the entire Bay of Bengal and Andaman sea from 07 – 18 Jun 21. Further a low pressure area is also likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal from 11 Jun 21 onwards. It is likely to persist over the region and concentrate/intensify into a Depression/Deep Depression during the subsequent two days. It is likely to move in NWly direction towards the coast of North Odisha from 11 – 13 Jun 21. Under it’s influence, heavy rain/thundershower with high wind speed and rough sea conditions are likely to remain over Andaman sea from 08 – 18 Jun 21.
The Indian Coast Guard has shared the weather information with civil administration including fisheries authorities. The Coast Guard Stations at various locations in A & N Region have been directed to sensitize fishing community in coordination with local fisheries authorities on persisting rough seas/inclement weather at sea and urge the fishermen to refrain from moving out to sea from 08 Jun onwards. The Coast Guard vessels on deployment are sensitizing fishermen at sea and guiding them to return to harbour. All Coast Guard establishments and ships in A & N Region have been alerted and directed to maintain highest state of preparedness to meet any contingency.
