Port Blair, July 05: A major fire was reported from Govind Nagar area of Swaraj Dweep on Friday night. According to details five shops situated next to each others, were completely gutted in the fire.
It is believed that the short circuit in one of the shops, triggered the fire but after blast of a LPG Cylinder, kept inside one of the shops, the fire spread further into other shops.
However timely intervention of Fire Service averted a major Fire Tragedy as the five shops were situated very close to power house and other shops, and Fire Service did not allow the Fire to spread further.
