Port Blair, April 23: The former Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has requested the Home Minister of India to assist an Island student currently stranded in Crimea State Federal University, Russia.
In a letter addressed to the Home Minister, Mr. Bishnu stated that Ms. Akansha, D/o of Babita Devi, resident of Birchgunj studying medicine at Crimea State Federal University, Russia along with other Indian students are not getting any required facilities from the university or the Government of Russia.
“I have personally spoken to the girl who informed me that they are in a pathetic condition as they didn’t get sufficient time even to purchase foodstuffs and they have not been provided with any gloves, masks or sanitizers,” Mr. Ray added.
Mr. Ray further stated that information on Indian students was collected by Indian Embassy but due to some of the other reasons names were left out for the students of Crimea State Federal University.
Finally, Mr. Ray stated that they are also facing a money crunch and are under extreme stress. The parents of the wards studying in the aforesaid university are worried now following which Mr. Ray requested the Home Minister to take appropriate action, in this regard.
