Port Blair, Dec 18: A major fire was averted yesterday at State Bank of India, Main Branch, Port Blair after fire fighters swiftly doused a blaze that broke out due to short circuit.
“The fire broke out close to the strong room of the Bank due to short circuit in a wall fan,” said a highly placed source.
As per reports, all of a sudden at around 02:00 pm all the computers suffered auto shut down at the main branch after which the technicians immediately attended the problem and re-started the systems.
Sources said that at around 03:30 pm when smoke started coming out from the strong room area the fire was noticed after which the staffs of the branch tried to douse the fire but they failed to do so.
On information a team of Fire Brigade immediately reached the spot and controlled the fire within half an hour.
However only a fan got burnt in the fire accident and there was no other loss of property.
