Port Blair, Jan 09: On the subject of levying Octroi tax on Food and other essential items, R Mohan State President had once again requested the Lt Governor, A&NI, not to consider Octroi on Food and other essential items as the people of these islands are already worst sufferers than the people of mainland in many ways. Since the proposal of would be enhanced tax on Food items etc proposed by the Chairperson, PBMC is still pending with the Lt Governor, Mohan had urged the Lt. Governor to cancel the proposal of the Chairperson in the interest of the People of these islands and flash the news of cancellation as a PONGAL GIFT to the Islanders from his side.
