Showing leniency towards encroachers??

Diglipur, Apr 29: A piece of land measuring 0.0100 hect, bearing survey number 179, has become a perfect example of Administration ineptness towards removing illegal encroachment.
The said piece of land situated adjacent to the Panchayat Bhawan, Subhash Gram, Diglipur was allotted to the BDO long back, as per land records.
But in 2008 the land was illegally occupied and encroached by a person. The said land today has four rooms, owned by the said person and out of these four rooms three have been rented out while the fourth one is with the encroacher.
According to reports the actual land of the encroacher is situated adjacent to the said encroached government land and thus he managed an illegal electric connection from his own land to the encroached land. Not only this, the said encroacher is charging Rs. 3000 per month as rend for each room.
As per records the Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur had issued a vacate order on 15th February 2012 to the BDO and Tehsilder but even after nearly two months the encroachment has not been removed.
The matter does not end here on 09/11/2009 the APWD had offered to construct one Type –I quarter on the said land and asked for demarcation but no action was taken from the side of responsible authorities.
The Anganwadi School, situated close to Panchayat Bhavan of Subhash Gram is in very bad shape and instead of constructing the Anganwadi School on the said land, after removing the encroachment, the BDO reportedly borrowed a piece of land from Panchayat.
This is yet not clear why the District Administration is showing such leniency towards the said encroacher. If the District Administration can’t remove one single encroacher from the heart of Diglipur then one can imagine how effectively the District Administration is in dealing with other encroachers of remote islands.
