Port Blair, Jan 08: A Maruti Omni bearing registration number ANO1D8272 hit a drunken man at Bhathubasti main road today at 1:40 pm.
According to sources, braving very heavy traffic on the main road of Bhathubasti, a man under heavy influence of alcohol was trying to cross the road, when suddenly the Omni driver got confused and hit the man hard.
The person sustained serious injuries. According to reports, the man had just narrowly escaped a hit from a Passenger Bus. The crowd immediately took the injured person to Garacharma Hospital in an Auto Rickshaw.
As per the reports, few friends of the drunken man who were also under influence of alcohol thrashed the driver in the middle of the road. On information a team of police reached the spot to control the situation, and picked up the driver of the Omni. Further details are awaited.
