Port Blair, Sept 10: The Tourism Department proposes to organize a Flea market at Port Blair with the support of Individuals; Local Cultural Associations; Self help groups; NGOs and Tourism Associations/Stake holders.
This event will be a platform for the local artists, artisans and cultural organizations to perform/display and sell various art forms, handicrafts, food item etc.
Participants can exchange or sell personal goods and belongings like books, music CDs, clothes, small furniture, accessories, junk jewellery, appliances, crockery, decorative items, hand paintings, utility products homemade local pickles/masala items, mehandi design (individuals, self help groups, NGOs, Cultural Associations etc. in the market.
The market is proposed to setup every Saturday evening from 4 pm to 10 pm at the Marina Park. However, as department is celebrating World Tourism day at ITF ground, the venue for first flea market has been fixed at ITF ground, from 23rd to 27th Sept. 2014.
The Tourism department being the nodal department will allot space to vendors, individuals, cultural associations, self help groups, NGOs etc rent free basis. It may be noted that shopkeepers and merchants will not be allowed to sell their merchandise in the market.
Interested participants are requested to collect the registration form along with terms & conditions either from Directorate of Tourism or can download it from the official website i.e. www.andamans.gov.in. The filled up application forms with relevant documents should reach this office on or before 19th September 2014, addressed to Director (Tourism), Directorate of IP&T.
