Mayabunder, Apr 30: This summer vacation brought a great deal of relief for the students and teachers of Senior Secondary School of Togapur (Pahal Gaon). Atleast for two months they won’t have to live through the daily nightmares of standing in long queue to respond to nature’s call.
Andaman Sheekha correspondent visited the School yesterday and found that there is only one toilet block for all the students as well as teachers. Condition is so bad that teachers and students have to stand in long queues infront of the toilet block everyday for their turn.
The problems do not end here, most of the classrooms do not have ceilings and hence in hot days the classroom transforms into hot ovens. Not only this, during rainy days it rains more inside the classrooms than outside, as the roofs have holes all over.
There is no place for serving or eating mid day meals to the students and hence in recess students remain scattered all the places and ultimately the school campus remain dirty all the time.
Teachers allege that in several occasions in past this problems have been reported to the Education Directorate but till now nothing has been done to improve the situation of the school.
“For two months, daily nightmares of our kids will end but again from the month of July, when it will rain heavily, the students and teachers have to relive these nightmares. Hope during summer vacation the Education Department will send a special team and conduct an inspection and also improve the condition of the school,” an angry parent told Andaman Sheekha.
