Port Blair, Mar 02: On one hand Right to Education Act is being implemented in these Islands and on the other hand there are reports that a private school is making life miserable for tiny tots.
In Carmel Senior Secondary School, six year old students have asked to write exams at 06.30 AM when the school is supposed to open at 07.30 AM. This timing is giving sleepless nights to parents and children.
Examination for class I, will be held from tomorrow from 0630 am.
It means the students of class I, will have to get up at 4.00 am to reach school by 06.00 am.
“Any person with soft heart will understand how difficult it is for tiny tots to get up in the morning. Often they don’t take their breakfast properly, early in morning. Now this new timing of 6.30 AM is a torture for them,” said an angry parent.
It has been learnt that this arrangement has been made considering the CBSE Exams. Parents now demand that the school should keep 2.30 pm as exam time for the tiny tots so that they could eat well and perform well. Moreover, if CBSE exams are the hurdle, then the school should have conducted the examination for primary school children before the CBSE exams.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Principal of Carmel School, she questioned the intensions of Andaman Sheekha as no parent, according to her, has come forward to complain regarding this, although she also understand that no parents will ever find courage to do so, for obvious reasons.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Principal accepted that this timing has been announced without consulting with Directorate of Education. “If parents have any problem, they should directly come to me, instead of going to media,” she added.
