Port Blair, Mar 19: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) aims to be at the forefront in addressing the environmental issues. ANC regularly undertakes tree plantation drives to ensure a greener future and organises environment awareness initiatives through participating in beach-cleaning drive at different beaches.
In furtherance to this cause, Static Workshop, Port Blair has established a ‘Pollution Check Centre’ for ensuring that all Defence vehicles conform to the prescribed emission norms. State – of – the Art Automotive Emission Analyser for petrol vehicles and Diesel Smoke meter have been installed in this centre. The Equipment is approved by Road Transport Authority and is in accordance with CMVR 115(2). Till date, a total of 257 Vehicles have been checked and certified. This will now be made a regular feature.
ANC continues its sincere efforts by under taking various measures and activities for preservation and improvement of a cleaner and greener environment in the Islands.
