Port Blair, Nov 18: Andaman and Nicobar Administration on Oct 21, 2011 had notified vacancy for 296 group C posts in various departments. The administration conducted a common written examination for the posts on 05th of February 2012 with the help of the Staff Selection Commission. But after this the results were not declared.
Recently, from 20- 25th July 2013, skill tests for five categories were conducted by various departments, as for these posts, trade test is necessary but even after conducting trade tests results were again withheld, for reasons unknown.
The candidates who had applied for the posts are still in hope to get a government job but the administration is delaying the process, for reasons best know to the personnel section of A & N Administration.
“Every time we go and ask about the result, we get a reply that within 10- 15 days results will be out. It is almost two years, it seems that the Administration has forgotten to declare the results,” said an angry candidate, who have been waiting for the results very badly.
Various posts in departments are lying vacant and there is extra burden on the existing employees. Further the candidates who had appeared in the examination now fear that these posts will be cancelled and the administration will once again start the recruitment process. There are many who smell rat in this process and fear that unwanted delay may leading to back door entry of some candidates.
Huge sums of taxpayers’ money is spent in conducting the examinations and there are a lot of candidates who are in need of the job but delay from the side of Administration to publish the results of the recruitment drive is really troubling the candidates as well as the existing employees.
The trade test was conducted nearly after two years of the written examination that too only after the media and the general public pressurized the administration for the results. Now the results are once again delayed by the administration and no responsible official is ready to answer questions about the recruitment progress.
Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. P. Krishnan, Deputy Secretary, Personnel but he refused to talk to this reporter very arrogantly giving excuse of lack of time. Such arrogance only shows that something is certainly fishy in the recruitment process.
Unemployed youths now request the Lt. Governor to personally intervene into this matter and direct the Administration to declare the results of the recruitment drive to fill up 296 group C posts in various departments.
