Port Blair, Sept 08: A 54 years old teacher of a government school at Chouldari has been arrested by police for sexually abusing minor girls of primary standard. The teacher, Thomas Bara was produced to court today from where he was sent to police custody for one day.
According to reports as many as 11 such cases of abuse against the said teacher has come to the notice of Police. It has also been learnt that the teacher was indulged in such activities since last two years but surprisingly the school authorities had no clue.
The School Authority was unaware about the incident until one caretaker of the children noticed such incident and reported the matter to the school Head Master. However there was no immediate action by the school or the Education Department.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman, Mr. Chinmoy Biswal has assured stringent action against the culprit.
“A & N Police maintains a Zero Tolerance policy against such cases. This is a very serious case and we have received complaints from several patents against this accused. Police is conducting investigation in a speedy manner under the Dy.S.P Supervision and we shall pursue the case for a fast prosecution in the interest of Justice,” the SP added.
