Diglipur, Feb. 27: In a significant step to promote eco-tourism and sustainable coastal development, the Forest Department, Diglipur Division, unveiled a statue of Lord Buddha at the pristine Pilot Blue Flag Beach, Ramnagar today. The statue was unveiled virtually by Dr. A. Anil Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests (Territorial).
Known for its untouched sun, sea, and sand, Ramnagar’s Pilot Blue Flag Beach stands as a symbol of cleanliness, serenity, and eco-friendly tourism. The installation of the Buddha statue adds a spiritual dimension to the beach, reinforcing the message of peace, mindfulness, and harmonious co-existence with nature. The artwork beautifully depicts local biodiversity, highlighting the importance of ecological balance. The statue has been sculpted and crafted by the renowned sculptor Shri Mahananda Gomsata, a proud son of the soil of Ramnagar village, whose artistic excellence has added cultural significance to the eco-tourism site.
The programme was attended by Dr. S. H. K. Murti, Divisional Forest Officer, Diglipur Division; Shri Shivendra, ACF (DP); PRI members; officials; and local residents, with over 200 participants present.
Addressing the occasion, Dr. A. Anil Kumar emphasized the relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings in promoting coexistence and environmental responsibility. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Shivendra, ACF (DP).
