Rangat, Feb 18: The only mortuary van serving Rangat and its adjoining villages has reportedly remained non-operational for the past six months due to ongoing repairs, leaving residents in a difficult situation. The prolonged unavailability of the vehicle has created serious challenges for families who need to transport deceased persons from Rangat Hospital to their respective villages.
In the absence of the mortuary van, bereaved relatives are compelled to hire private pickup vehicles at high charges, adding financial strain during already distressing times. Rangat Hospital caters to several surrounding rural areas, and the mortuary van is considered an essential public service for the region.
According to local sources, the vehicle is currently under the control of the concerned Gram Panchayat. Residents have expressed concern over the delay in restoring the service and have urged the authorities to take immediate steps either to repair the existing vehicle at the earliest or arrange for the purchase of a new mortuary van in the interest of public welfare.
Members of the public have appealed to both the Administration and the Panchayat to treat the issue with urgency and ensure that the vital service is restored without further delay.
