Port Blair, May 19: A fire was reported from the Electrical Panel No V of MV Swarajdweep’s Engine Room on Saturday evening. According to reports some faults in the electric lines led to sparking and fire but the fire was brought under total control by the Fire Fighters within three hours, averting a major accident. The ship was about to sail for Chennai on Sunday. No report of any kind of injuries have been reported due to the fire
One of the most difficult fire fighting operations, was carried out under the supervision of Inspector RK Singh. According to reports initially fire fighters were facing a lot of difficulties in dousing the fire but later they overpowered and controlled the same by 6.30 pm.
