Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 08: The State Control Room has issued a weather-related advisory based on inputs received from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, warning of weather conditions for the next seven days in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The advisory has been circulated to all concerned departments, including disaster management, fisheries, agriculture, police, electricity, fire services, and control rooms across the islands.
According to IMD, there is no significant weather warning for the general public during the period from January 8 to January 14, 2026. However, as a precautionary measure, advisories for fishermen and farmers have been reviewed. No specific fisherman warning has been issued during this period, and farmer warnings for the next five days have also been indicated as nil.
Meanwhile, as part of port safety measures, a Distant Cautionary Signal No. I has been hoisted at Sri Vijayapuram Port, advising maritime stakeholders to remain alert. Fishermen and port users have been urged to stay informed through official channels and follow instructions issued by the authorities.
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely and has advised all departments and stakeholders to remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any change in weather conditions.
