Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 5: Mr. Abhay Kumar, President of Living On The Edge (LOTE), has submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, seeking urgent intervention to resolve long-pending service-related issues affecting government employees, particularly those posted in inter-island areas of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In the representation, LOTE has raised concerns over delays in relieving officers and officials even after transfer orders are issued. It has been stated that employees serving in inter-island and remote locations are often compelled to wait until a replacement joins, resulting in prolonged uncertainty.
According to the memorandum, such delays cause undue mental stress, disruption of family life, and extended separation from dependents, especially when employees are transferred to stations of choice after completing their prescribed tenure. The organisation has urged the Administration to issue strict and uniform directions to all departments to ensure timely relieving of transferred staff.
The letter also highlights delays in implementing transfers approved on educational grounds, particularly in cases where employees’ children are studying in Class XII. Although approvals are granted, actual implementation is often delayed by several months, adversely affecting students during a critical academic phase. The absence of parental support during board examination preparation has been cited as a serious concern impacting students’ academic performance and emotional well-being.
LOTE has requested that such transfers be implemented well before March each year to ensure family stability and allow students to prepare for board examinations without additional stress.
The organisation has appealed to the Administration to issue appropriate directions to all concerned departments to ensure prompt execution of relieving orders and expeditious implementation of transfers on educational grounds, in the interest of employee welfare and good governance.
