
Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 10: A five-day training programme on Forest Fire Management concluded today at Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj marking the end of an enriching and impactful series of sessions focused on strengthening the skills and knowledge of participants in preventing and managing forest fires.
The valedictory function was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. A. Anil Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forest (Territorial), and Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, Chief Conservator of Forest(R&WP)–cum- Chairperson, Forest Training Institute, Wimberlygunj, Mr. P. Sudhakar, Deputy Commandant, NDRF Unit, Srivijayapuram and Mr. Jainik Ram, Assistant Director, Disaster Management whose presence added great significance to the occasion.
At the outset Mr. Raju Rathour, Forest Ranger, Course Coordinator welcomed the Chief Guest & other dignitaries who graced the valedictory function. Mr. Ajit V. John, SFS, Director, Forest Training Institute presented a report on the five day’s Training course conducted for the forest frontline staff, highlighting the key sessions, expert lectures, field demonstrations, Mock drill and group discussions conducted during the programme.
In his address, the Chief Guest commended the participants and the institute for their commitment towards safeguarding forest ecosystems. He emphasized the importance of capacity building and community involvement in effective forest fire management. The Chairperson, FTI also appreciated the efforts of the resource persons and the organizing team for conducting such a timely and relevant training programme.
Among the Participants, Mrs. Indu Nikhil, Forest guard, enthusiastically shared her experiences from the five-day training, highlighting the valuable knowledge gained, the interactive sessions, and the practical insights they could apply in their work.
The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where participants were felicitated for successfully completing the training. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Tulsi Bai, Forester trainee expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, experts, participants, and supporting staff for their valuable contributions in making the event a success.
The five-day training not only enhanced technical competencies but also strengthened the collective resolve to protect forests – our planet’s vital lifeline – from the growing threat of wildfires.
