Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 16: With the Notification of Inland Vessel Rules, 2022, it had become mandatory for all Inland Vessel Owners and its crew component to get themselves registered on the Central database Application Portal developed by Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). The Port Management Board was accordingly mandated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to coordinate with IWAI and organize a sensitization program for all Stakeholders. This issue was deliberated with IWAI and accordingly a virtual workshop was conducted on 13.03.2025 in the presence of Secretary (Shipping). Cdr. Sanjay Verma, Senior Consultant (M), IWAI and his team made a detailed presentation and explained the Nitty-gritty on use of the Central Database Online Platform.
The program was attended by Officials from Port Management Board, Directorate of Shipping Services along with representatives from Inland Vessel Owners of different categories of Inland Vessels in Sri Vijaya Puram, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep. The demo staging portal for use of Central Database was made available to the stakeholders so that they could get familiarized with the Online Registration process in the Central Database Portal. It is further informed that PMB will ensure that all assistance is provided to facilitate the Inland Vessel Operators for sustainable development and fostering of the Tourism Sector.
