Diglipur, February 19: This is the third consecutive day the elected Members of the PRIs such as the Zilla Parishad Members, Samiti Members and the Pradhans of the Gram Panchayats under Diglipur Tehsil have jointly held the dharna at the same venue i.e. in Children Park opposite to the Administrative Building, Diglipur today.
As per report, the dharna started in the morning hours and the elected PRI Members delivered speeches one after another on their same issues. They said in their speeches that all the developmental works of the PRIs are in jeopardy due to unnecessary delay in the respective departmental offices in processing and issuance of work orders; and the the undesired delay is reportedly halting the ongoing projects and which in turn is causing a negative impact on community development, as well, they said. They demanded that processing and issuance of work orders are expedited and the current limits/restrictions on Work Orders given by the Gram Panchayat to Co-operative societies are lifted. Their third demand was re-establishing the Executive Engineer’s Office in Diglipur which they vehemently raised in their speeches. Shouting slogans on their demands, they further said the Administration has reportedly snatched all the powers from all the three tiers of Panchayati Raj Institutions, be it Gram Panchayat, Samiti or Zilla Parishad and impaired the system from every aspect, they alleged.
Amidst all this, the elected Members of the PRIs will reportedly wait and watch for another day for any positive response from the A & N Administration, and if there is no response from the Administration, then they will reportedly resort to holding chakka jam on 21st February, they threatened at the end of their dharna which concluded in the afternoon today.
Meanwhile, the PRI Members will reportedly continue to hold their dharna consecutively on the fourth day as well, they affirmed.
