Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 5: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor production, a jungle search operation was conducted in the dense forests of Kalsi, Urmilapur, leading to the discovery and destruction of illicit distillation setups.
A dedicated team, led by SI Manoj Lal from PS Rangat, along with HC Shyam Sundar Das (I/c OP Bakultala), PC Pradeep, PC K. Samir, and HG Swapan Biswas, conducted an extensive search operation for nearly 2 to 3 hours. During the operation, they uncovered two separate locations being used for manufacturing illicit liquor.
Upon discovery, the team destroyed 450 liters of lahan, which was stored in 30 tins of 15 liters each. Additionally, they dismantled and seized two distillation plants, which were being used to process the illicit brew. The search also led to the confiscation of 16 kg of whole wheat and 16 kg of sugar, suspected to be raw materials for further liquor production.
The swift and decisive action by the police underscores their commitment to eradicating illegal liquor operations in the region. Authorities have assured continued vigilance and strict enforcement to curb such unlawful activities.
