Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 10: The Chairman of ANTCC Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker has raised the challenges faced by school going students and their parents because of difficulties in reaching school on time during heavy rains.
In a letter addressed to the Director of Education, A&N Administration, Mr. Bhasker said that despite of parents and students leaving early for school, they are still struggling to arrive at school within the prescribed time due to long delays caused by huge traffic during heavy rains.
He added that the Port Blair City has been experiencing severe traffic congestion during the morning hours, especially during heavy rains. Also, it has been noticed that the route from Bathubasti Junction to Dairy Farm Junction is always facing Traffic Jam and to pass by this route, people need additional 15 to 20 minutes of time, which often makes school students reach late at school.
“The poor condition of roads and ongoing construction work in many prominent routes has increased traffic disruptions. Such conditions have made commuting increasingly difficult for students and parents, leading to frequent delays in student arrivals”, said Mr. Bhasker.
Therefore, Mr. Bhasker requested the Director of Education to kindly consider giving grace time of 15 minutes for students to reach school during heavy rains.
