Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 08: Mr.Rayhaan Pasha, President of Nicobar Youth Association have made an urgent appeal to the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health), A & N Administration to reinstate the meal service at the Community Health Center (CHC) in Kamorta, Nancowrie, which has been discontinued for more than a year. The CHC, which serves as the primary healthcare facility for the Nancowrie group of islands, is a lifeline for patients from remote and underserved tribal communities, many of whom are facing severe hardships due to the absence of this essential service.
The CHC in Kamorta is the only community health center in the Nancowrie group of islands, serving a large population spread across various remote villages. For many poor tribal patients, traveling long distances to reach the CHC is already a significant challenge due to the lack of transportation options. The discontinuation of the meal service has only exacerbated their difficulties, forcing many patients to rely on external sources for food, which they cannot afford. Additionally, due to the vast distances between the villages and the CHC, patients are unable to travel back home for meals during their treatment, further compounding their suffering.
Given the unique challenges faced by the tribal population in these remote areas, access to proper nutrition during hospital stays is crucial. Reinstating the meal service would provide much-needed relief to patients who are already struggling with limited access to healthcare facilities and proper nutrition.
Rayhaan Pasha & the tribal council, of Nancowry group of island are calling on the government to take immediate action to resolve this issue and demonstrate their continued commitment to improving the welfare of the tribal communities in the Nancowrie group of islands.
He urge the authorities to prioritize this matter and reinstate the meal service at the earliest. It is a basic necessity that can make a significant difference in the health and well-being of the tribal population
The community is hopeful for a swift response from the authorities, as the reinstatement of the meal service would greatly benefit the health and recovery of the tribal patients in the Nancowrie group of islands.
