Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 16: In an on-going operation against the drug menace, and based on information provided by Sanjeev Kumar Halder during his police custody following his arrest under the NDPS Act by PS Rangat, it was revealed that Sanjeev Halder had been supplied with Methamphetamine by Ashok Maithy, a retired electrician from MES, resident of Buniyadabad, and Raju Golder, a private worker resident of Hutbay.
On 16/09/2024, based on an input, it was discovered that the suspects are traveling to Diglipur by bus to sell the drugs. Acting on this, SDPO Rangat immediately formed a raiding team led by SI Madhab Halder, SHO PS Rangat. The team intercepted the bus in which Ashok Maithy and Raju Golder were traveling near Rangat and conducted a search of their bags. A search of Raju Golder’s bag resulted in the recovery of 3.09 kg of Methamphetamine. During the preliminary inquiry, the main accused, Raju Golder, revealed that he had obtained the drugs from floating parcels at sea. Upon further interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement. The investigation confirmed their involvement to the NDPS case registered against Sanjeev Kumar Halder on 02/09/2024 at PS Rangat.
Subsequently, on 16/09/2024, Ashok Maithy, 61 years, S/o Ram Krishna Maithy, R/o Buniyadabad, Retd. MES electrician, and Raju Golder, 36 years, S/o Anadhi Goldar, private worker R/o Hutbay, were arrested for committing offence under the NDPS Act, at PS Rangat. The investigation is in progress.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
