Diglipur, Aug 13: The Office bearers of VHP, A & N Islands held a Press Conference at Port Blair today on the unrest and atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. Addressing a Press conference today Mr. Brajesh Pandey, Adhyakhs, VHP, A & N Islands said that as it is known fact that what sort of atrocities were inflicted on Hindus and for which they are grievously concerned; in fact, they (VHP) are the ones who first respond to any sort of incident like this.
He said that VHP was established in the year 1965 to safeguard the interests of Hindus. He further said that it is well known to all media persons/fraternity that how the inhuman torture on old, women and children, massacre were carried out by the jihaadi mindset people.
“As you are also aware of the fact that during 1971 a large section of Bengali people were settled in different areas in North & Middle Andaman district by the Govt. of India and there are many people who have relatives/own their people are still residing in Bangladesh and who are informing these people in Andaman about the atrocities being inflicted on the Bangalis there and which unnerve them”, he said. And thus these islands are not also untouched by the atrocities in an indirect way, he mentioned.
Hence the VHP Adhyaksh has urged the A & N Administration and govt. of India through this Press Conference to engage directly with the interim government to end this outbreak of violence, exercise restraint on atrocities on Hindus, and to bring those responsible to justice. He also said that some of the VHP central Office Bearers who are continually striving hard at Delhi to extend possible help to the victims of these atrocities in Bangladesh and they have also given some helpline numbers which they may contact in need, they said.
He further said that VHP Kendra Adhikari & Anterrashtryia Adyakhsh and General Secretary met Mr. Amit Shah, the Home Minister on 9th August and informed him about the sentiments of the Hindus in India owing to the atrocities.
The Home Minister, showing his deep concern on the unrest and atrocities in Bangladesh, reportedly gave assurances that the govt. is serious about the issue and doing its possible in this direction; while the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi who gave best wishes to the head of the interim govt. in Bangladesh ensured the safety of the students and others and he also established contacts with Officials of the interim govt. in Bangladesh and ensured the security of the minority such as Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Christian and also the security of the places of their worship.
The Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi also urged the head of the interim govt. to take actions against the individuals involved in the atrocities as the head of the interim govt. hasn’t disagreed with the atrocities. He further said that the minorities there had a big role and contribution in establishing Bangladesh; they also fairly contributed to the development of Bangladesh. On the other hand, the youths of Bangladesh protested against the Bangladesh govt. in connection to reservation and other issues then why they inflicted atrocities on the minorities there, he asked. ISKON, which has been feeding the thousands of people there in Bangladesh free of cost was also targeted and its temples were demolished and what mindset of people engaged in it portrays, he asked.
“Several temples, Muths…were torched and which people or force were behind it should be thoroughly investigated, they demanded. Videos of violence and atrocities on the minority are extremely disturbing and unbearable, he said. He urged the Bangladesh interim govt. that they exercise immediate restraint on these atrocities and restore peace and normalcy and to act to evolve solution in a diplomatic way and to gain the confidence of the minorities there find as soon as possible, he said.
