Port Blair, July 05: The Adhyaksha, ZP SA Smti M Rajani, conducted a thorough inspection of boats under construction at the yard in Shore Point, Bambooflat today, in the presence of Assistant Director, Shri Amala Theedan, AFDO, Shri Nesnes, from Fisheries Department and Assistant Director (Admn.)(I/C) Shri Ali Mumtaz and ZPM Bambooflat Constituency, Miss V K Mariyam Bibi from ZPSA.
During the inspection, the builder of the boats showcased the completed vessels, as well as those under construction, highlighting the various stages of completion. The fishermen present during the inspection requested that the Adhyaksha consider revising the specifications in the guidelines to include flat-bottomed boats, which would be more suitable for their needs.
Adhyaksha Smti M Rajani gave a patient hearing to their concerns and assured them that she would discuss the matter with the Competent Authority. She acknowledged that the boats are intended for use by fishermen and that their convenience and needs should be taken into account.
Following the inspection of the boats, Smti Rajani also visited the Shopping Complex in Bambooflat, which is currently under construction. The agency executing the said work was directed to provide an update on the progress of the project and tentative date of completion.
Smti Rajani emphasized the importance of completing the work on the shopping complex as early as possible, to ensure that the benefits of the project are extended to the intended beneficiaries.
