Port Blair, Sept 28: The Andaman and Nicobar Police today used physical force and water cannon to disperse students from the Dairy Farm main road area and when the police failed to do so, the department used tear gas to disperse students, leaving many students struggling to even breath and a few senseless for couple of moments.
When the Fire Service team was using water cannon on students, a lot of the general public came to safeguard the students and raised their voice against police action. Instead of giving opportunity to the students to recover, the police team used tear gas on the students.
A large number of public who were at the spot openly criticized the police and termed this as a cowardly act.
It is learnt that a few students were taken to the hospital in an ambulance after they developed health issues due to use of tear gas.
