Port Blair, May 17: The 10th National School Chess Championship 2022 began on 16th May 2022 at KIIT University Campus, Patia Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The championship is held for school Children of various categories viz Under 07, U-09, U-11, U-13, U-15 and U-17 Boys and Girls for six days from 16th May to 20th May 2022 over 09 rounds in classical mode.
The championship was inaugurated by Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University in presence of International Master Padmini Rout and Ranjan Mohanty, Joint Secretary, All India Chess Federation (AICF)
More than 1000 players from various schools across India are participating in the prestigious event in which 14 players from different schools in Andaman & Nicobar Islands are enthusiastically participating in different age groups.
Shrihaan Karmakar of KV2, J.S. Virat of VKV Port Blair, Sayansh Jindal and A Aarush of Carmel School are participating in the Under 09 Boys category. V Yashwant of Kamaraj School and A Divesh of VKV School are participating in the under 13 Boys category and K Harshit from Model Sr. Sec. School participating in under 15 categories.
Similarly, in the girls’ section R. Kashthuri Bhai, a FIDE Rated player from GDMS is participating in the Under 15category. Tanisha Raj and J Keerthana of VKV Port Blair are participating in the Under 13 category. Kavya Raj and Sriya Raj of VKV Port Blair participated in the Under 11 category and Parnita of Carmel School participated in the under 09 category. D Charvi of VKV Port Blair participating in under 07 Category.
