Port Blair, Apr 26: Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar raised concerns to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration over the miserable condition and slow-paced work of NH-4 from Thoratang Nallah to Diglipur.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Pradhan of GP Harinager mentioned that the work of NH-4 from Thoratang Nallah towards Diglipur started more than 03 years ago and the slow pace of NH-4 works in this area has deeply upset the residents of this area. In the early month of this year bitumen’s laying work started from Basantipur towards Thorntang Nallah. But unfortunately in the last five months, merely 4 KM of NH4 up-gradation works was completed.
He said that the present condition of NH-4 under Gram Panchayat Harinagar is too poor to motorable, even to walk, the villagers are facing several difficulties, because during the rain it becomes muddy like paddy field and in summer the dust partial with chemicals blowing on air, due to vehicular movement. Worst sufferers are people living along with the ATR, patients, students and other means of daily transportation. As the concerned authorities have failed to sprinkle water over NH-4 on a regular basis.
Pradhan, GP Harinagar pointed out that a letter was served addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Mayabunder on 13th April 2022, but till date the Panchayat has not received any response.
He added that during the digging of the earth for construction of road work by the concerned authorities damaged and leaked the main water pipeline of APWD. Due to the damage of the pipeline, the villagers of GP Harinagar are not getting a sufficient quantity of drinking water.
He mentioned that besides the NH-4, rainwater stagnated/blocked due to the non-availability of suitable passes which is harmful to human health. It may require filling with earth or construction with an RCC drain for proper passes of stagnated/blocked water.
He added that if the NH-4 road work is not started under GP Swadeshnagar Bridge to Jaipur Ward No. 1 within time by the concerned authorities then a massive agitation by the PRI Members and the general public will be organized on 06th May 2022 at 07.00 AM and will go up to complete Chakka Jam.
Therefore, Pradhan GP Harinagar requested the Chief Secretary to take necessary action in this regard, or else the general public of this area will be bound to go for Agitation or Chakka Jam, against the slow progress of NH-4 developmental work.
