Port Blair, Mar 16: Residents of Port Blair are suffering heavily as power supply turned erratic in Port Blair city since yesterday morning. It is learnt that people in home, shops and offices suffered immensely as their daily chores got affected due to unscheduled power outages. Residents of Port Blair city alleged that in a day more than 10 such power cuts were witnessed on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is causing serious damages to electronic equipments of offices and households.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Superintendent of Engineer (i/c), Electricity Department to know the reason behind such erratic power supply, she said that yesterday there was a little problem as five new breakers were installed at Garacharma Sub Station, which resulted in power cuts and in the evening hours, rotational load shedding was there. She added that the rotational load shedding will continue in the coming days due to hot weather.
She assured that the Electricity Department is trying its best to deal with the situation within this week as three more new DG sets will be commissioned as soon as possible.
