
Port Blair, Mar 13: The family of Late Mr. Samir Acharya has instituted ‘The Samir Acharya Memorial Award’ for the Conservation of Coastal and Islands Ecosystems to Mr. Chanchal Singha Roy on 12th March 2022. The jury of Dr. Simronjit Singh, Dr. Manish Chandi and Ms. Samhita Veda Acharya zeroed in on the winner this year.
Mr. Chanchal Singha Roy is a dedicated Islander who has worked relentlessly through the years spreading awareness amongst students for the conservation of our Natural Heritage.
Late Mr. Samir Acharya was the most well-known environmentalist and foremost advocate for the sustainable development of the A&N Islands. He was equally concerned for the equitable future of both the settlers and Indigenous Islanders of both archipelagos.
The program was hosted by Samhita Veda Acharya, daughter of late Samir Acharya. Dignitaries present were Mrs. Pushpanjali Raju, Mr. Rajesh Anand, Mr. Madan Gupta, Mr. Farooq Alam and Swamiji of Chinmaya Mission.
